Leisure Cycling

Steeped in history and surrounded by some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside, the towns and villages of the Scottish Borders make an ideal starting point for some of the region’s shorter cycle trails.

Whether it’s a 5 mile route that takes in one of the best places in the Borders to see otters, an 8 mile tour of the stunning Berwickshire coast, or a more challenging 53 mile route bypassing three of the region’s most beautiful stretches of water, the Scottish Borders has trails to suit all levels of leisure cyclist.

The region also boasts a great variety of accommodation providers, with many being part of Scotland’s Cyclists Welcome scheme.  Here you will find covered, lockable storage for your bike, a place to dry outdoor clothing if the weather is wet, as well as lots of route and weather forecast information and a host of additional benefits.  There are options to fit every budget from B&Bs and luxury four star hotels, to campsites, family-run inns and self-catering cottages
Many of the region’s cycle trails travel past or close to fantastic attractions such as Melrose Abbey, burial place of the heart of Robert the Bruce, Abbotsford – home of Sir Walter Scott, and family favourites including Harestanes Visitor Centre.
